The VoterVoice system will automatically add the personalized smartlink to any call to action, (a broadcast where you specify that the purpose is to drive your supporters to your action center). VoterVoice will place it at the bottom of your broadcast if you do not specify where you would like it placed. You can insert as many as you like wherever you like, but we suggest placing at least one toward the beginning and one toward the end of your email.
The smartlinks can take the form of a text link or a button.
Inserting a Smartlink into Text
1. Place your cursor in the text area where you want the link to appear.
2. Click the "Smartlink" button at the top of the toolbar.
3. You'll see a pop-up that shows the smartlink controls:
- Under "Label," enter the text that you want to serve as the link.
- Click "Link directly to this action."
- Under "Smartlink," choose the action you wish to link to. The action you previously selected on the Options page of the Broadcast tool will always be at the top of the list.
The smartlink will appear in the text editor, and the language will be whatever you entered in the previous step. When your advocates click that link, they will come straight to the action you wish them to take, and the information you have on file for them will be pre-populated into the user profile. They can make any necessary edits from there.
Inserting a Smartlink Button
1. Click a plus icon to add a new button content block. A button will appear while the styles set for the template you are currently using.
2. Click on the button itself to see a pop-up that shows the button and smartlink controls:
- Under "Label," enter the text that you display on the button.
- Check the "use smartlink" checkbox.
- Click "Link directly to this action."
- Under "Smartlink," choose the action you wish to link to. The action you previously selected on the Options page of the Broadcast tool will always be at the top of the list.
That's it! Your supporters will be able to click that button to be brought to the correct action and have their information prefilled!
