Once you create an action, (such as an advocacy campaign, event, survey, or petition), in the system, you will want to send a call to action broadcast to your contact list, pushing them to that particular action. See this article for information on sending broadcasts of all types.
To send a call to action, go to Messaging > Broadcasts, then click to create a new broadcast.
For the purpose of your message, choose the first option: "drive my contacts to my action center." You will then see a dropdown menu that allows you to select from a list of all active actions what you want your supporters to do.
You will also need to set a name for the broadcast (only visible to you) and select how you would like to contact your supporters. You can reach out via email, text message, or mobile push notification.
Once you have made your selections of message purpose, name, and method of communication, continue to the “Recipients” page.
The Recipients page allows you to pick out those contacts who should receive the Broadcast. By default, when you send a Call to Action email, the system will automatically search through your contact list and just send to those users who are constituents of the officials targeted in the campaign. VoterVoice will also automatically exclude any contacts that are unsubscribed or flagged as having an invalid email.
You also have the option to narrow your list further using an advanced search. To do this, just click on the dropdown list and change “send to entire list” to “use an advanced search to filter.” This section allows you to search your database using specified criteria or load a saved search.
When you continue to the Compose page, you are able to craft the call to action itself.
The from name and from email will be automatically populated from the "default 'from' emails" you selected in Manage Administrators, but you can choose any email and name associated with your system.
You will need to select a template to use for broadcast. Click here to see how to create new email templates.
The subject and body will have content pre-populated from the alert of your action. You can make edits to that language in the email without affecting the language shown on the action itself.
We suggest that you use the "smartlink" button in the toolbar to place the smartlinks to your campaign wherever you want them to appear in the body of the email. The smartlinks can be text links or even buttons.
