Bill and Vote Data Updates

Where does VoterVoice get its data?

Bill and vote data in VoterVoice is programmatically sourced from PolicyNote, the advanced, AI-driven policy intelligence platform developed by FiscalNote. PolicyNote gathers legislative data directly from official government sources, including Congress.gov and various official state legislature websites.

When do bills first appear in VoterVoice?

Bills (including pre-filed legislation) are added to VoterVoice at the start of the legislative session once they are published on the official federal or state legislative website..

How often is the data updated?

  • State legislative data is updated daily.
  • Federal legislative data is updated three times per day.

After information is published on the official legislative website, it typically appears in VoterVoice within about 24 hours.

Why doesn't VoterVoice have a particular vote?

In some cases, vote details are published by state legislatures in non-machine-readable PDFs. Because these formats cannot be reliably processed programmatically, the vote data may not be available in VoterVoice.

If you need to score a vote that is not available in the system, you can still track it by creating a custom action within VoterVoice.
