How Can I Remove the Prefix Requirement?
There is no way to remove the requirement that a user enter a prefix in order to participate in an advocacy campaign. Almost every official with an online contact form requires a prefix in order to submit a message, so that requirement is baked into our system as well.
How Can I Make the System Accept More Prefixes?
Your members can enter anything they would like into the VoterVoice prefix field, up to 30 characters. That includes gendered, professional, religious, and non-binary prefixes - anything.
The problem is that a number of legislators with online contact forms only accept certain prefixes (usually Mr, Mrs, Miss, and Ms). If your supporter matches to one of those legislators, they have to choose a prefix the legislator accepts in order to submit their message. The only way to get a legislator to accept more prefixes is to contact their office and ask them to do so. Fortunately, we save the prefix the do accept as a back-end option just for that particular legislator so that it does not change the prefix they use for others and have saved in their user profile.
