VoterVoice maintains an in-depth database of information regarding your elected officials, and there are three primary ways you may want to access that information.
Downloading the Elected Official Database
To pull a CSV file of the legislators' important information, go to People > Elected Officials. You will see a page with accordion tabs of the legislators you can access in your VoterVoice system separated by their government. Just click on a heading to collapse of expand the list of legislators.
In the top right corner under each heading is a "download CSV" icon. Click that to download the information for all legislators at that level of government.
Searching for Constituents
You can search for contacts who live or work in particular districts pretty easily. Go to People > Search Contacts and opt to perform a new search. Under the search field, scroll down to the grouping of Advocacy fields and choose either officials (to search by the legislator's name), districts (to search by district number), or committee (to search for all committee members' constituents).
Adding Official Information to Your In-House Database
Advanced-level clients have access to our API. A developer on your end can use these calls to
- validate an address,
- look up the officials who represent that address,
- and then use that to update user records in your in-house database.
If you wish to use this, please notify firstname.lastname@example.org so that we can provide you with an encrypted API key.
