When you drive your supporters to VoterVoice campaigns through ads, you may want to get some metrics on their relative performance. This article explains two ways to collect that information.
Tracking IDs
Each of the campaigns you create in the VoterVoice system have campaign-specific URLs. If you will be driving people to your site through ads, you will likely want to add a tracking ID in order to make sure you know which ads are more effective.
Take the URL from the Manage Advocacy Campaigns page, for instance:
https://www.votervoice.net/YourAssociationName/campaigns/12345/respond
Add a query to the end of the URL. Note that "FacebookAd2" can be anything you want.
?TrackingID=FacebookAd2
The final product will look like this:
https://www.votervoice.net/YourAssociationName/campaigns/12345/respond?TrackingID=FacebookAd2
Use this as the destination for the ad, and you will be able to find who came in through that particular ad in the Advocacy Report. At the top of the report for the campaign, you will see an option for an advanced search. Just perform a search for the following criteria: “tracking / tracking identifier / contains / [FacebookAd2]”
Tracking Pixels
Alternatively, if you are running ads through a service that provides tracking pixels (like Facebook, for instance), we can install them:
- on the alert page so they fire when someone initially comes from that source to the campaign.
- on the confirmation page of the campaign so they fire when someone from that source actually takes action.
You would just need to send the tracking pixels to vvsupport@fiscalnote.com and specify your association and which campaign you would like us to add those to.
