In addition to having your supporters email their officials directly, VoterVoice allows you to contact those officials as a representative of your association. To contact state-level legislators from any state included in your package, mouse over the Messaging menu, and choose Broadcasts. Create a new broadcast by clicking the icon in the top-right corner. From here, choose “contact elected officials” as the purpose of your message and continue forward.
If you need to contact federal-level officials instead, click here.
On the Recipients page of the message wizard, you will need to specify which officials you want to contact. The default option is “send to all available officials” which will copy every state-level legislator included in your package. If you want to pare that down, opt to perform an advanced search. This will allow you to select one or more jurisdictions and chambers. You can further constrict the list by selecting specific:
- Districts
- Committees
- Officials
When you continue forward, you will craft an email message just like a normal broadcast to your supporters. Since legislatures tend to have strict firewalls, please be careful to limit the number of images, links, and attachments in your broadcast.
